Welcome to the TFEL Event Series: Making Change Together

This dynamic series of events, hosted by the Transforming the Field Education Landscape (TFEL) partnership, celebrates social work field education. Join us from March 17–21, 2025, in Calgary, Edmonton, and online for five inspiring days of workshops, an exhibition, and networking opportunities. This Event Series will bring together TFEL co-investigators, collaborators, students, and community partners.

The week begins on Monday, March 17th in Calgary for the Climate Action and Advocacy Exhibition at The Hive (Office of Sustainability) and a workshop on Green Social Work. In the afternoon of March 17th, there will be a lunch and networking opportunities with the International Social Work event. Additional workshops in Calgary include Redesigning BSW Field Education, the Art of Digital Storytelling, Spirituality and Field Education, and an online Indigenous Social Work workshop.

Join us in Edmonton on Thursday, March 20, and Friday, March 21 for the TFEL Event Series. We will kick off the event in Edmonton with a breakfast and an online workshop focusing on Field Education for Racialized Students and a hybrid workshop on Field Education and Private Practice. In the afternoon of March 20, enjoy lunch followed by a workshop on Macro Social Work Field Education. The day will conclude with a networking opportunity as we join the Faculty of Social Work’s Research Symposium starting at 4:30 pm. On the final day of the TFEL Event Series, we will host an in person workshop on Neurodiversity and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in Field Education and wrap up with a celebration of social work field education, including a book launch of our new open access Student Handbook on Field Education.
