The TFEL project invites you to join in the “Meet the Author” Speaker Series to discuss the newly published book: “Transforming Social Work Field Education: New Insights from Practice Research and Scholarship”.
Dr. Wasif Ali will present his book chapter “Advancing Community Development Field Placements in Pakistan: A Case Study on Community Drinking Water”. Join the author to learn more about about this topic and the implications for field education.
About the Author:
Dr. Wasif Ali is working as a Mitacs Postdoctoral Fellow & Sessional Instructor in the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Calgary. His educational background, academic training, and professional experience are focused on qualitative field research and community development. His practice experience includes training and capacity building of public officials, volunteers and the leadership of community organizations to support gender justice and child rights during migrations in war-torn regions, with a particular emphasis on the well-being of orphans and widows in the most vulnerable situations. He served with the United Nation Development Program (UNDP), UNICEF and UNHCR in various international roles. His current research explores Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in the context of Islamophobia, anti-Muslim racism, and the development of strategies for positive Muslim youth development in Canada.
