Meet the Author Series – Dr. Natalie Beck Aguilera and C Gage

TFEL “Meet the Author” – Dr. Natalie Beck Aguilera and C Gage

The TFEL project invites you to register for the Meet the Author Speaker Series to discuss the book: “Transforming Social Work Field Education: New Insights from Practice Research and Scholarship.”

On November 9th  at 10:00 am MST, Dr. Natalie Beck Aguilera and C Gage will present their chapter on “Addressing Class in Field: Economic Justice and Unpaid Social Work Practicums”.

Participants will have an opportunity to discuss the chapter with the authors and to ask questions.

About the Authors:

Natalie Beck Aguilera, DSW, LCSW-S is an Assistant Professor of Social Work and Field Director at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, USA. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Southwestern University, Master’s degree in Social Work from The University of Texas, and Doctor of Social Work from The University of Tennessee. Dr. Beck Aguilera has practiced as a professional social worker for over 14 years in the fields of juvenile justice, school-based mental health, and substance use treatment. Her areas of passion include family-based treatment for adolescents and breaking the school-to-prison pipeline.

C Gage, BSW (pronouns they/them/theirs) graduated from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work. They presented research on gender identity and expression at the Southwestern Psychological Association (SWPA) conference in 2017 and gave an oral presentation at the 2020 Symposium on Undergraduate Research and Creative Expression on alternatives to policing in schools and the relationships between school and prison. C has been involved in community organizing work around the Austin area and is passionate about building systems of community care that undermine current systems of oppression.
