Meet the Authors Series Karen Lok Yi Wong

TFEL “Meet the Author” – Karen Lok Yi Wong
The TFEL project invites you to register for the Meet the Author Speaker Series to discuss the book: “Transforming Social Work Field Education: New Insights from Practice Research and Scholarship.”
On October 12th at 10:00 am MDT, Karen Lok Yi Wong (Ph.D. candidate, School of Social Work, University of British Columbia) will present her chapter on “Social Work Field Education Experience with Non-Social Work Field Supervisors in Community Senior Service Setting.”
Participants will have an opportunity to discuss the chapter with the author and to ask questions.
About the Author:
Karen Lok Yi Wong (MA, MSW, RSW) was trained in social policy for a Master of Arts at the University of York, in the UK, and in social work for Master of Social Work at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver. She has conducted research, including analyzing policies, on older adults and healthcare with focus on palliative care, long-term care, and family caregiving. Karen is a registered social worker and researcher and has been practicing in diverse settings related to older adults, such as community senior services centre and long-term care. She serves in the Seniors Community of Practice and Anti-racist and Actions Committee of the British Columbia Association of Social Workers. Karen is a long-term volunteer of Alzheimer’s Society. She is the recipient of the Inspiring Social Worker of the Year in 2021, which acknowledged her contribution to her advocacy work with people with dementia from diverse cultural communities.
